The Second 2017 CYMOLY Training of Teachers from Experimental Bases and Zones Rounds Off

The Second 2017 CYMOLY Training of Teachers from Experimental Bases and Zones of the Chinese Society of Education (CSE) was held at the Capital Normal University from June 6th to 9th.

Fang Yunjia, Executive Vice Director of Juvenile Innovation Education and Research Center of CSE, addressed the opening ceremony. Wang Fenglian, Director of the Teaching and Research Office of Mathematics of Laicheng District, Laiwu City, Shandong Province, and Du Yuzhu, a math teacher from Xingji Elementary School, Jinan City, Shandong Province, shared their teaching experience with the attendees.

With a special focus on “Intelligent Math” and “Aerospace Makers,” the training examined such topics as intelligence development, magic, magic cubes, kaleidoscopes, gravity board games (Hungry Higgs), aerospace engineering, lunar bases, and satellite innovation. The highlight of the training resides in its formality of multi-project teacher training, which enables the organizer to carry out intensive parallel trainings in six classes featuring the respective six topics.

Teachers participating in the training said that they gained a deeper and more thorough understanding of the idea of maker education by joining a series of activities, including the sharing of teaching experience, demonstration of practice outcomes, and a visit to the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology. Also, they mentioned that these activities inspired them and boosted their confidence.

It is learned that the purposes of the training are to ensure the orderly proceeding of the 2017 CYMOLY Fair and CYMOLY Challenge, push forward the maker education events at CYMOLY experimental bases and zones, and enhance teachers’ practical skills in relevant maker education fields.
